“Get down get deeper and down get down get deeper and down…” PG Rating Not Exercised During Childhood READ: Spice Girls Songs
Saturday night!
- Saturday Night Divas, Spice Girls
Well technically it's already Sunday morning so I should've posted a No Doubt photo instead. But then it's the 'Saturday Night' song that's playing in my head so I should stick with this one. Haha.
Okay. I have been wondering about this for too long already so I think now is the time for me to actually write this down. Okay, here goes!
I can't believe that NOBODY noticed that some of Spice Girls' songs were actually sexually suggestive. I mean. I was really young way back when I adored them like their mere existence was my reason for living. I was in fourth-grade and during that time, I was hands-down to Spice Girls. Now, 15 years later, whenever I suddenly hum their hit songs (2 Become 1, Saturday Night, Last Time Lover, etc. etc.), I just couldn't believe how the adults have let their youngsters (I, one of them), to sing these songs out loud on the streets, when, in fact they were actually sexually suggestive! Cases in point:
2 Become 1
- ... wanna make love to ya baby... I had a little love, now I'm back for more..
- be a little bit wiser baby.. put it on, put it on.. [Whoa.]
Last Time Lover
- ... last time lover... Do you wanna be my last time baby? Could it be your first time maybe?...
Okay, the Saturday Night Divas interpretation must have been just an exaggeration, but WTH, I was just what, fourth? Fifth? Sixth grade? And I'm howling my heart out on lyrics like "Wanna get down / Wanna get down/ Wanna get down on Saturday night?"
Saturday Night Divas - Spice Girls
I loved the Spice Girls. But I just find it funny that they were all strutting their stuff wearing all these outfits with plunging necklines and absolutely no one from the oldies has scolded me to put down their posters that I have oh-so-faithfully plastered on my bedroom wall. HAHAHA.
Just a thought.
I think I can still come up with a list of songs like this from the SG. How about you? Do you remember any band or song that you used to sing out loud on endless repeat, not realizing that it has a lot of sexual implications? Heh heh. Parental Guidance has been strongly recommended during my childhood but looking back, I don't think it was strictly implemented. Not that I am complaining. Hehe. Just a thought. c:
